Purpose of the scholarship(s) 

The purpose of the scholarship(s) created by the Fund, is to provide financial assistance to a deserving rural and/or 4H youth (student) involved in agriculture that is furthering their education through post-secondary education or trades courses. 

Source of Funds

The scholarship(s) will be issued to two (2) students in the amount of $1,000 each. Meridian Manufacturing Inc. will donate $1,000 to a Saskatchewan Fund and $1,000 to a Manitoba Fund for a total of $2,000. 

Concept: 

Meridian Manufacturing Inc. in conjunction with the Thanks for Farming Tour is supporting youth in agriculture by way of a scholarship for 2022. This scholarship is open to: 

  1. Saskatchewan: Rural students or urban 4H members Grade 11 or 12 looking to further their education with entering post-secondary education or trades courses. This is open to students in Saskatchewan.
  2. Manitoba: Rural Students or urban 4H members Grade 11 or 12 looking to further their education with entering post-secondary education or trades courses.

The total amount in scholarships will be $2,000 and will be divided by the panel’s choosing.  

This award is to be presented in recognition of the farming community. Successful scholarship recipients must recognize the importance of the farming community. 

Application Criteria: 

  • Applicant must be a resident of the province in which you are applying. (i.e. have a SK/MB Driver’s License or Health Card). 
  • Applicant must be able to provide proof of being a rural resident within respective province or provide proof of a current 4H membership if you are an urban student. 
  • Applicant must be born in 2004 or 2005 and entering a post-secondary institution (college or university or recognized trade) to further their education. Proof of enrolment will need to be provided prior to funds being released. 
  • Applicant must demonstrate characteristics that foster the spirit of communities and have a passion for the agriculture industry. 

Submission: 

Applications must be submitted by:

  • July 1, 2022 for Saskatchewan Residents
  • July 15, 2022 for Manitoba Residents

Submission process :

  • Create a video that is a minimum of 1 minute and a maximum of 3 minutes answering in your own words the following question: 

How is Agriculture important in my community? 

  • This video needs to be accompanied with the completed application form.
  • We recommend also sharing your video on any of your social media accounts. Social media platforms that will be recognized are Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and/or Twitter. 
  • Video’s can be as creative as possible. 
  • The video can be sent with a google drive or Dropbox link. 

Instructions

  • Complete application form must be received by midnight on: 
    • July 1, 2022 for Saskatchewan Residents
    • July 15, 2022 for Manitoba Residents
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. 
  • Lost or misplaced applications are the responsibility of the applicant.
  • Only The top 3 applicants from each province will be notified. 
  • Videos can be sent with a google drive or Dropbox link.
  • Successful applicants will be selected based on information contained in their video submission.  
  • The top three finalist from Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be asked to present on stage at the Thanks for Farming Tour in their respective home province. Finalists will be contacted in person by a Thanks for Farming Tour committee member.  
  • Proof of enrolment for 2022/2023 or 2023/2024 semesters will be required prior to disbursement.
